Getting to the sauna and hot tub meant a 10-minute uphill hike, and the water was ice cold when we arrived. There’s also an icy walk uphill from reception to your room. The Nest feels like a death trap, and you’d need to be nearly a gymnast to get in and out. The food was okay, but wildly expensive even for Sweden. The Biosphere and Cabin are so small there’s no room for your luggage. The rooms don’t have much of a view, even if you’re lucky enough to see the Northern Lights.

I’d had this place on my radar for years, and I’m so glad I finally got to visit. The setting is magical, the restaurant is amazing, and the service couldn’t have been more helpful. An unbelievable place.

Treehotel really breaks the mold, which is why I love sharing it as a travel designer focused on Nordic experiences. It’s set in the forest with nature right outside, and the rooms are far from ordinary. Each has its own concept, with high-end finishes and clear craftsmanship. To me, it’s upscale glamping mixed with Scandinavian design rather than a typical luxury hotel. The new Spa sits at the forest’s edge and adds even more peace to the stay. The guest house food is excellent too, creative, local, and carefully made. A memorable choice if you want to disconnect, try something unique, and enjoy the beauty of the north with a touch of luxury.

Seeing the Northern Lights from our treehouse room was an unforgettable stroke of luck. The setting is extraordinary, and we found the food excellent, fresh, flavorful, and prepared daily. Eating at the hotel was a good choice, especially with only a small bistro as the other option in town. The stay also felt thoughtfully sustainable in every part. It’s a truly unique experience unlike anywhere else in the world, and I highly recommend it for both the experience and the values they uphold.
