The cottages were spacious and had clean, fresh bedding. It would have been useful to have cleaning supplies for the kitchen and bathroom. The water views were beautiful, and having an indoor pool and sauna made for a really enjoyable stay.

Our cabin was newly built and finished to a high standard, with a barbecue outside. The only nuisance was the WiFi hotspot mounted right above the sofa where some of us slept. Its blue light was very bright.

It’s a nice place in a good location, but the service facilities can’t keep up when it’s busy. There are only 3 service houses for more than 500 camping spots.

The grounds are very large, with plenty of amenities, including an indoor pool, and the three service buildings are conveniently spread around. It’s a comfortable campsite right by the shore and near tourist attractions, with really helpful, friendly staff. The facilities are well maintained and the staff are professional, so I’d give it a full 4 stars. I haven’t found a 5 star campsite in Sweden yet, so 4 is very good by my standards. It’s especially suited to campervans and trailers. Tent spots are exposed to the elements, and there isn’t much choice near the service buildings. I usually prefer smaller sites away from towns when I’m travelling with a tent, but I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this one.

The price is a little on the high side, which is why I’m giving 4 stars, though that seems normal for Öland, Sweden. It’s good for kids, with a playground, football, and a small sandy beach. There’s a shop for everyday things and a fun train into the city. The place is great for cycling trips, and the harbour, city, and castle are close enough to visit for a few hours. I strongly recommend seeing the castle. The outdoor pool is free. The indoor pool costs extra, but the fee is fair. Bathrooms are okay and often cleaned, though sometimes there’s a smell. I’ll come back.
