Renen

The location is convenient for the slopes in Duved, and the ski bus to Åre runs every 30 minutes. Breakfast was nothing special but did the job, and there’s a sauna available each evening. The property and cleanliness felt outdated. When we arrived, we found several moving bugs under the sheets and mattress. The receptionist called them sugar roaches. A woman later offered us another room, but we found the same bugs there. She then pressured us to decide right away, saying, "the hotel is fully booked." With no other nearby options, we stayed. The way our concerns were handled felt extremely unprofessional, and we didn’t feel taken seriously. Photos are attached. We weren’t bitten, but the hotel didn’t really look into it further and offered no compensation for the inconvenience. Be aware.

The staff throughout the resort were very kind, and we were really pleased with our stay at Renen. I was there with my 13-year-old son for a ski holiday in February 2018. The restaurant has a simple menu, but the food was good, and breakfast was a buffet with everything you need. The room was very good, with a drying cupboard for ski gear, and there was a ski locker by reception. The Pomade lift is about 100 metres away and takes you into Duved. The ski bus to Åre stops there every half hour, then drops you at Hotel Renen on the return.

I’ve been back on and off for ten years, and it’s lovely to have an apartment with a washing machine and sauna. The nearest lift and bus stop are less than 50 metres away, and you can ski right back to your door.

The price was very economical, and the location is an easy walk from the train station, almost right in front of the lift and bus stop. The room also had its own drying chamber for ski clothes.
