Dinner came with a lovely sunset over the water, and we got a perfect seat to enjoy it. We also had lunch at Gullmarsstrand, which was simple and tasty, with cocktails made just right. The setting feels relaxed but still elegant, and the service was excellent throughout. Great food, drinks, and atmosphere. I’d come back.

We’ve stayed here twice, first for a wedding and then with our two kids. The hotel and facilities are gorgeous, though the rooms themselves are basic. Our family room was at the top of a hill, so there were two sets of stairs to deal with. With a pram, luggage, and two young kids, that was a hassle. It was also very warm in the room, even with the provided fans. Our daughter found the sofa bed really uncomfortable because you could feel all the springs, and there wasn’t a fridge in the room.

We had our own balcony in room 60* on the second floor. There are different rooms available. The place sits right by the fjord, with a spa, hot pools, a sauna, and the option to bathe in the fjord. Service was understaffed, but the people working were service minded. I think it may be different in the summer season.

Parking was excellent and easy to access, and the staff were friendly. When we found remnants from a previous guest in the toilet because our first room hadn’t been cleaned properly, they quickly arranged another room. The location by the sea is nice, but the stay felt more like a barrack or camping motel, with small rooms and thin walls that let in lots of noise from other guests. Breakfast was okay, nothing special. It didn’t feel like good value for money, and I wouldn’t stay here again.
