Hotell Funäsdalen

We had a BBQ buffet on the Friday we stayed, and it's the best buffet I've ever had. Everything tasted delicious, and I'd come back just for that. The breakfast was great too, and the rooms were good. The hotel is conveniently placed for activities in Funäsfjällen, in summer or winter.

The biggest problem was the noise carrying through the walls and ceilings. At the weekend, children ran along the halls at 9pm, and kids in the room above us were still making noise after 10pm. Our room was clean and simple, and the price was good. Staff were friendly, dinner was good if you booked at the restaurant, and the breakfast buffet was okay. A little fresh fruit would have improved it.

For youth hostel standards, this is very good. We knew our four-bed room would be cramped, and it was. The kitchen was good, and even though it was busy over New Year, it never felt too crowded. Sometimes rubbish bins in the kitchen took a while to be emptied, or toilet rolls took a while to be replaced, but it never became a serious problem. The sauna is free. It's not cheap, but for the season and location I thought it was good value. This was our second visit over Christmas and New Year.

The hotel bar has a nice fireplace. In the hostel, there's a large, new kitchen with good equipment, plus a dining room and a TV room with sofas upstairs. On the same floor as the clean four-bed room were large showers, a washing machine, toilets, a small kitchenette, and a sofa and TV. The room itself had a small table, two chairs, a dim little entrance hall, and a large dark wardrobe. Check-in was quick and friendly.
