Äventyrsgårdens Vandrarhem, Kinnekulle

After walking all the way from Rome on our way to Nordkapp, we arrived at Äventyrsgarden on a day of really heavy rain. The place and its peaceful, comfortable surroundings were lovely, but what stayed with us most was how warmly the family welcomed us and made us feel at home. We found far more than we’d expected. There are horses right outside, and the owner is helpful and has various adventures to try if you stay longer than a night. The house has all the facilities you need, and the price is fair. It’s also a good base for hiking around Kinnekulle. The property sits just outside the small village of Källby. It’s a lovely farm turned into a tourist resort, but it’s kept its charm.

There’s a fun 5k walk starting right at the property, and the area around it has lovely scenery, hiking trails, and pretty shores. Lidköping is only a quick drive away for shopping. You can also feed the farm animals. The hostel feels comfortable and new. What makes the place stand out is the kind host, who enjoys having guests and has a great sense of humor. Findus and Pettson would fit right in here.

I was riding the Kinnekulle track alone when Urban asked if he could come along. He’s really friendly and easy to talk to, and gave me a tour of the region as we rode. I’d recommend stopping here. I visit Urban’s youth hostel when I mountain bike in the area. The place is beautifully maintained and close to one of the MTB trail starts. Urban also rents bikes for Evalds MTB, which is based in Lidkoping. He says this is the best place to start, and I agree. The bikes were rented through Evalds MTB.
