Goteborgs Mini-Hotel

The rooms and common areas were clean and nice, and the hotel is budget friendly. Its location is useful too, near Haga and close to the tram. Our street-facing room was really loud, though, and we didn't sleep well. Breakfast cost extra and wasn't worth the price: there was just one type of pastry and bread, usually a few days old, and the eggs were barely boiled and inedible. For the last two days, we seemed to be the only ones paying for breakfast, so staff prepared a tray the evening before without asking what we wanted. If you're vegetarian or have another special diet, you may get only cheese and bread, or nothing. Reception and staff weren't available much, which made it hard to communicate, including about breakfast. It's okay if you don't plan to spend much time at the hotel.

We waited more than five minutes outside before anyone let us in. The elevator upstairs felt sketchy, but the room seemed okay at first. Then I saw that my bottom bunk had completely sunk, with a bent frame that looked close to giving way. The other bunk was disgusting, with vomit marks on the bars and dirty stains on the bed. If a 25 pound room and a broken back with nasty hygiene sounds appealing, this is the place.

The shared kitchen was repeatedly dirty, with food scraps left around and no sign of proper cleaning. Guests also often walked barefoot through the hallways and communal spaces, which felt unhygienic and uncomfortable. Staff came into my room more than once without warning or permission, a serious breach of privacy and security. One staff member was cold and unwelcoming. The whole place seemed poorly maintained and unprofessional from the moment I arrived, and I left feeling unsafe and uncomfortable. I won't return and would strongly suggest staying elsewhere.

The location was fantastic, and I was really glad I stayed here. My room was comfortable, the restrooms stayed clean, and the staff were polite. The showers are a bit far along the corridor, but they're in good condition. They also booked me a laundry slot, though you should reserve ahead because it fills up fast.
