Grenna Hotell

Once the daytime visitors have left, Gränna gets lovely and quiet in the evening. The hotel itself is small and personal, with cozy rooms, really kind staff, and a superb breakfast.

Just to be clear, we stayed in Pensionat Grenna, in the rooms outside the main hotel building, though it's the same facility. The location in Gränna is great, close to everything, and breakfast was excellent. The main building has a welcoming, relaxing interior, the staff were friendly, and the bar's good selection made it a nice spot for a gin drink. The garden felt peaceful and quaint, but was overgrown and buggy, especially with hornets around. The patio was pleasant but needs scrubbing and paint. Dinner was good, though the new service didn't match the menu prices. I asked for a trimmed piece of beef because I don't like cutting chewy fat and gristle off my steak, but that was overlooked and the meat disappointed me. They also forgot my wine refill, then brought red wine with my lovely sorbet dessert. The room in the old red wooden buildings was far below the rest of the stay. It smelled funky, had an old bathroom, and no ventilation or AC, so the air was stale and sleeping in the warm room was horrible. The Wi-Fi only worked in theory. They blamed the low standards in the Pensionat rooms on the pandemic, but everyone blames Covid. As a customer, could I blame Covid and pay less? Probably not. Those rooms really need a full refurbishment or the nightly price cut in half. I hope they renovate and install AC and proper Wi-Fi.

The Greta Garbo room had a wonderful lake view, and the hotel has lovely furniture, lots of space, and a quiet atmosphere. The people were very friendly and breakfast was excellent. It's an old-style hotel, though, and the bathroom especially needs renovation.

In a calm neighborhood, with groceries, drug stores, and the lake all within walking distance. The staff were very nice, and although the hotel and rooms have an older style, everything felt fresh and very clean.
