Abisko Turiststation STF

The hotel and hostel are just across from the SJ station, about a two-minute walk, which was so convenient after taking the sleeper train from Stockholm Central to Abisko Turiststation. We stayed in the hotel, where the rooms were clean, comfortable, and lovely. The hotel itself was pleasant, with lots of cozy places to sit and beautiful views of the mountains and lake Tornetrask. The bistro and restaurant served great food, and the staff were excellent at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The lunch buffet was especially gorgeous. We'll be back.

The staff were cheerful and lively, and even with a busy crowd the place stayed peaceful and relaxed. There were all sorts of comfortable rooms for reading or just unwinding, including a dedicated space for filling bottles and flasks. The restaurant was delicious, with an impressive range of oil-free, plant-based, and vegan dishes. I also loved the hydroponic glass box where they grow herbs. At first we hesitated to stop on our way back to Norway because the name sounded too touristy. I'm glad we gave it a chance. It's a unique place, much better than its name suggests, and we can't wait to return.

There's a lot here for a family holiday, with a great location and convenient access to hiking trails, local information, restaurants, activities, and the sky station. We also appreciated the quiet spaces, like the library, where you can relax. The place is great value for money, and I'd highly recommend it. The restaurant lunch was delicious one day, but we didn't care for the options or taste the next day. The Bistro could improve too: the margarita pizza we ordered was disappointing, though the fries were great.

The common spaces were cozy and thoughtfully arranged, with comfortable armchairs and little corners where we could properly relax. The location was excellent for aurora hunting and being close to nature. Breakfast was outstanding, with lots of delicious choices, including vegan options. The place was well equipped, and the staff were very helpful. We had a wonderful stay.
