There aren't many things to do nearby, so it's worth having a plan before you arrive. Kayaking or biking seem to be among the few options. The hostel in Ljungskile feels very remote, though you can still hear the highway a few kilometers away. The beds weren't very comfortable, and breakfast didn't feel worth the price. Still, it's fine if all you need is somewhere to sleep.

Breakfast was alright, nothing memorable. The regular rooms, though, feel very dated and sparse, while the superior rooms have been freshly renovated and are quite welcoming.

We liked the varied breakfast, the tidy rooms, and the good sanitary conditions. There are pleasant outdoor areas and a lovely view, and the staff were nice. The place also has an interesting history. It seems well suited to families with small children, though there are quite a few steep stairs, so take care. We arrived at 10:30 pm and nobody was at reception, perhaps by mistake. Some people came and locked us in, and it all worked out fine. Highly recommended.
