Naran Hotel

Breakfast was great, and there’s a kitchen guests can use. The hotel itself is simple and clean, with really friendly, helpful staff. Just be aware that check-in and breakfast are handled at another hotel a minute away, though that’s made clear before booking.

The noise from construction in the next room woke us at 7:30 in the morning, and I don’t know why they had to begin so early. Add the loud ventilation and it made for a bad night’s sleep. Breakfast disappointed, too.

Naran worked well for an overnight stay, especially for getting around town: the centre, bus station and train station are all conveniently close. My room was cosy, clean and comfortable, with a good bathroom. Guests can use the well-equipped kitchen to make their own meals, and breakfast is a great buffet. Check-in, check-out and the restaurant are at the sister property, Amber Hotel, about 200m around the corner. The staff there were friendly and helpful. I’d recommend Naran as a nice place to stay.

The bathroom was much better than the room, which was tiny, a little worn, and smelled of cigarettes, like an ashtray. The corridor looked quite cosy, so maybe I just got unlucky with the room. Still, compared with other hotels, I can’t give it more than two stars.
