Dinner was the best part for us. We were five, the food was really tasty and well prepared, and the service was good. The waitress even spoke Finnish, which was a nice surprise. Though the kitchen was meant to close at 9:30 and the restaurant at 10, they served us until almost 11, then let us sit together with beers on the bar side, even though it was closed too. The room was fine temperature-wise in autumn, though it might get a little warm in summer. The shower and toilet were separate, but both were narrow in my room, and avoiding the wall in the shower was almost impossible. Water pressure and temperature were good. Breakfast was OK and the large restaurant wasn't too crowded. I can recommend the hotel and restaurant.

The conference facilities were in good shape, and Nässjö is nearly halfway between Stockholm and Malmö, which makes it a convenient meeting point for groups coming from different parts of Sweden. The hotel overlooks a square and is close to the train station. Food was great, with vegetarian, lactose-free, and gluten-free choices, and the service was very good.

We have four beds in our room, and there's a spot to warm food and make coffee or tea. The reception staff have been super friendly. When we checked in, the kids got to choose a toy from a box, and now they're happily playing in the playroom on the first floor while I'm writing this. I'm enjoying our stay too. My car is in the garage included with the booking, with access from the parking area to reception and all the floors. I've booked another day for our return trip. We'll have breakfast tomorrow, and I'll share photos and write about it then.

I left without checking in and won't book here again. At arrival, they wanted to charge me 12 euros for parking, even though Booking's description for the room said “free private parking.” When I pointed that out, they still wouldn't offer it free. It was already dark and raining. The receptionist could have made parking complimentary, but instead chose to send away a guest. The other issue was my ID. I was willing to show it and have my name, address, and passport number entered in the night register. I objected to the receptionist demanding a copy of my passport as a condition for getting a room. She said it was required by law, which I believe is simply untrue and customer-unfriendly. Asking a guest to identify themselves or recording those details is fine; copying an ID is not. The hotel doesn't seem to know the law. This was the first hotel in Sweden where I was asked for that information, though that itself wasn't my objection. In response to my review, the hotel has now worded the ID issue differently. I think they know taking a copy is illegal. Because of my work, I know European privacy law well, and I intend to report this to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) since the hotel apparently won't acknowledge its mistake. European citizens have the same rights as Swedish citizens and should be treated that way. We aren't “foreigners,” and copying a passport isn't allowed for “foreigners” either.
