Elite Plaza Hotel, Örnsköldsvik

The rooms were spotless and had everything you'd need, and breakfast was delicious, though it got pretty crowded in summer. It's a great base for visiting Höga Kusten or just passing through. The hotel is in a really good spot.

The location is the hotel's strongest point, right by the corner of the docks, and staying in the main hotel might even give you a view. I was placed in another building, which felt abandoned. Getting to the room meant a long trek through stairs and corridors, then I found what was almost an apartment with a living room and three separate bedrooms. The room itself was clean, but over 2000Sek for one night felt outrageous. I arrived early in the evening without a booking, so I took what was available. I won't come back. A friendly receptionist showed me the way, which I badly needed because I don't think I'd have found the room otherwise. Service was good. The breakfast room is tiny, and the coffee machine uses a terrible frozen concentrate. I've stayed at other Elite hotels in other cities and have always been happy with them, so this was a huge letdown. I only checked the 4.1 star rating since I was passing through and hadn't researched much. Maybe that rating fits the main hotel itself.

There are conference rooms, and Bishops Arm bar and restro is downstairs. The room was good and had a minibar, though using it costs extra, and daily use items were provided. It felt like the hotel lived up to the Elite name. A good place, but expensive.

After driving almost 17 hours, it was such a relief to arrive at this stunning, modern and fancy hotel with beautiful views. The receptionist greeted me with a warm, genuine smile and was super nice. I found the price pretty reasonable too. If you're in the area and need somewhere to stay, this is your best bet.
