Fryksås Hotell & Gestgifveri

We stayed in one of the wooden houses, which had a sauna and kitchen, and the accommodation was easy to recommend. The place is beautiful and its restaurant is very good. One evening we had the 3-course meal with wine pairing, and the other we ordered a la carte. Both were amazing. It is a bit expensive, yes, but worth it.

I was here for a wedding, and the food was really good, especially the dessert, which looked like a work of art. I stayed in shared accommodation. The room was small and basic, just a bunk bed and little drawer, but the common area was great, with a decent-sized kitchen and a big three-sided sofa that could fit everyone staying there plus guests. The toilets were great too. It’s a lovely escape from the big city, with nice views and a cozy feel, like stepping back 400 years before the industrial revolution.

€30 for 3 soft drinks, 3 coffees and 3 waffles. The waffles were burnt, and the coffee was filtered at least 2 hours earlier. A total dump. The mist hid the view people had told me about, though that wasn't why I came. Where are the high standards you'd expect from Swede's? Not in this hole!

The only good thing for us was the nice Waffle House up the road. There was no Scandinavian charm at Fryksås, and I was really disappointed in this hotel. For 2,200:- a night, we got a very simple room with a plastic bathroom, below-average breakfast and dingy sauna area. There was nowhere in the hotel to sit and relax, so we were stuck in our dull bedroom. The walls were so thin we heard everything next door, even their toilet flushing, which woke us up. I’d heard the food was meant to be fantastic, but my vegetarian dish was really dry and nasty. Other hotels in the area are much cheaper, so I’d recommend looking at those instead.
