Svaneholm Hotel

We were glad we chose Svaneholm Hotel for our three days. It's so quiet there, a good spot to take a break, and the view from the property is breathtaking. The room was fine and had what we needed. There's a pool table in the left wing that everyone can use for free.

We visited in the pre-season, but over a ten-day stay that doesn't explain all the problems. The location is lovely, with a beautiful lake, lawns, trees, and a red wooden church nearby. It's an old Swedish 18th century manor, and the interior decor has charm, though it's also flawed. The bathroom is tiny, there's no glass for brushing your teeth, and there's no plug for a shaver. We emailed twice before arriving and heard nothing back. You also have to take your shoes off, even though it's a hotel. The receptionist seemed nice, but was foreign and hardly spoke any languages. Beds and towels are only changed weekly. There was no coffee or tea setup in the room, and no TV. All in all, not so great. Next time we'll choose Edsleskogs Wärdshus.

On our way back to Denmark, we stayed here and booked two rooms. They were in separate buildings, which was fine, and the room was clean and comfortable. The place feels like stepping back in time. Our neighbours were foreign workmen who shouted down the hall at 6:15 on their way to work, letting the whole floor know. We'd planned an early start anyway, so that lie/im wouldn't have been possible. Tanja was very helpful and attentive when we asked about a car charging stating. We charged overnight for 250SEK and were ready to leave the next day. It was a good place overall, and it'd be nice to return after the workmen have left.

The quiet, the good service, the free parking, and the large rooms made this a lovely stay. The beds were comfortable, with good quality duvets, and everything was clean. You can use the kitchen, and there's billiards too. Restaurants, groceries, and an ATM are about 500 meters away. Inside, the old movie feel comes from all the beautiful pictures, the fireplace, couch, stairs, and more. It has a romantic feel, especially at sunset, when the firelight casts a soft, eye-friendly glow on the walls. The prices are great for the quality. If you want some calm and a break from crowds, this is the place. It literally took my heart, and I'll be back for sure.
