The hotel is easy to find, and the door opens automatically, which is especially helpful for someone with a disability. The room looked nice, and the carpet throughout the hotel was really nice too. Shampoo and conditioner were provided in the shower. The downside was being close to the road, so street noise came through. They don’t serve dinner, but recommended another hotel about a 15-minute walk away.

The beds and pillows were wonderfully comfortable, and the rooms felt clean and fresh. The hotel itself is beautiful and historic, with tasteful restoration, though not every bathroom has been refurbished. Breakfast was only average. The bacon, sausages, and scrambled eggs were cold each morning, and for some strange reason there were no hot plates. Dinner service was inconsistent too: one server was distracted, unfriendly, and forgot both napkins and cutlery, while the next person was lovely and very professional. The restaurant needs much better attention to detail and consistency. We were five people in two rooms and were charged extra each night for a bed, even though one room already had a sleeper couch and no extra bed had to be brought in. Hotels usually charge for that when they provide an additional bed. We also got no extra sheets or pillows for the couch, so we spent both nights sleeping uncomfortably without bedding. That was very disappointing, especially given the extremely high prices.

The food was delicious and the drinks were good too. This was my second hotel of the week, and the bed here felt like a dream compared with the last one. The room was quite small, but I only needed it for sleeping, so a comfortable bed was enough for me. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, and Skara is beautiful. Sadly I forgot to take pictures of the room, but I did get some of lunch and dinner. Tack 🫶🏼

The staff looked stressed and unprepared, and by the time my steak arrived it was cold and difficult to eat. I left more than half and told them. Several meals were missing, we had to wait for them, and the salad seemed to take a long time to prepare. Orders were mixed up, items we hadn't ordered appeared, and some food came before the starter had been eaten. The plates were still on the table, leaving no room for more food. This was my first meal here since the refurbishment was finished, and it wasn't a good experience. I'll give them another chance in a few months.
