The room was the letdown at Comfort Hotel Skellefteå. It was spacious, and the bed was comfortable, but everything felt dated or partly broken: holes in all the lamp shades, broken blinds, loose toilet hangers, and bathroom lights nearly coming out of their sockets. The small ventilation outlet couldn’t keep up with the summer heat, so the room was very warm. Breakfast was pretty good, with most of what you’d expect at a standard hotel. We were touring the Swedish coast on a Strawberry summer pass, and the hotel’s location worked well, just a few minutes from the bus station where we arrived from Luleå.

After paying twice as much in Jokkmokk, this place felt like the best hotel value within a four-hour radius. The price is what brought us here, and breakfast made it even better: pancakes, eggs, bacon, fruit, smörgås, oats, smoothies, plus genuinely good tea and coffee. Our modern room had Chromecast, Wi-Fi, a hair dryer, and a new bathroom. We also had a courtyard view and cheap overnight parking.

Linia at the front desk made me feel welcome and was helpful as soon as I arrived. The room was very comfortable, and I could properly unwind after long days out. Breakfast had plenty to choose from and tasted great, and the sauna downstairs was a nice way to relax. There’s self-service laundry too, just ask at the counter for access. Across the road, the gym is open 24 hours for a small fee. I had a great stay at Comfort Hotel Skellefteå and would recommend it when visiting Skellefteå.

There’s a nice riverside park beside the hotel, with shops and grocery stores nearby. The hotel is central, and my basic room was spacious. Breakfast was a good Scandinavian spread. During the summer heatwave, though, I really missed having air conditioning in the room.

The rooms and breakfast were fine and well looked after. Parking was the hassle, since you have to pay to use a public parking lot.
