Scandic Skellefteå

The staff at reception were excellent on our first visit. We booked on 21.12.24 and stayed in room 302 with our four kids and dog, and I parked in the basement car park. That first stay was brilliant, so I booked the same hotel again for the return leg of our trip on 28.12.24. It was a completely different experience, and I can't honestly recommend it anymore. They first told us there was something wrong with the booking, then said we couldn't have the junior suite because dogs weren't allowed. Hallo, we'd had that room just a week earlier. They offered us two rooms for the same price instead, which was a bit of a problem but manageable. Our two oldest kids, aged 15 and 14, had to stay in a different room on another level while we stayed with the younger kids and the dog. And on top of that, I had to pay for the basement parking. The receptionist said this was new. If you're paying good money for rooms, I think parking should be free. If I were the manager, I'd change that and be more customer friendly. I want to thank all the friendly staff, though. If things change with parking, rooms and so forth, I'd say give it a try.

Right in the city centre, this is a convenient place to stay whether you're visiting for work or pleasure. The familiar Scandic hotel system makes it feel like home, as always.

Find somewhere else for dinner. The sirloin steak I was served was the worst food I've ever had. It was technically edible, but that's all, and I can't imagine anyone who calls themselves a chef made it. The room itself was decent, with a nice bathroom. The windows open, which is great, though it wasn't really needed since the temperature was already cool and comfortable.

The service was friendly, and our room had good beds and was quiet. Breakfast had a suitably varied selection. The sauna and swimming pool were a nice surprise for the children, too. It's centrally located and handy when travelling south, with a short walk to the city centre and free parking for the car.
