The food was really good, and the surroundings were very nice.

The hostel has what you need for a very pleasant stay. The rooms were fresh, the little kitchen was good, the view was beautiful, and the air inside was nice. We got free sheets, and I liked the choice of board games. The network near the building was good too. There’s no stool for clothes in the bathroom, and only one socket in the bedroom. The furniture felt a bit worn rather than cosy, and the walls are very thin. The ground floor works for wheelchair access, with room to turn around the kitchen, though some doorways are a little narrow. The heavy, self-closing entrance doors could be difficult. It was reasonably allergy-friendly. There’s a lot of fabric furniture and curtains, but the surfaces were wiped down very well and everything was clean. The upstairs shared kitchen has a door that helps keep allergens in, which may help very sensitive guests. There’s a lot of forest in the area, so pollen season is probably noticeable.

I stayed at the castle for a three-day summer course. It was cosy and very nice, and everything was well organized. The food was very good. I’m vegetarian, and the people who ate meat seemed happy with theirs too.

Whenever we visit Tidaholm, we stop at Hellidens for lunch. The food is homemade, tasty, and there’s always plenty. Fridays usually include a dessert like apple pie and custard. It’s a cosy place, with an interior that feels a bit like a flea market. There’s no luxury, and it’s somewhat shabby. Helliden sits by the forest, so you can go for a walk among the greenery, and parking is free. Lunch is cheap at 100kr.
