Ulvo Hotell

The room was nice, and the location is amazing. Dinner was a letdown, though. The food tasted bland and seemed poorly executed, and the plates were an odd choice. We sat for at least 10-15 minutes between appetizers and mains with empty glasses and a dirty table, partly because those plates were awkward. The fish itself was quite nicely prepared, but came with something most like pizza salad without the acidity. I’d stay at the hotel, but skip dinner here.

We were really disappointed to find the hotel closed when we visited Ulvön in early September, hoping to have lunch there. There was no sign at the hotel and nothing on the website to tell us. They should keep the site updated so people can see when it’s open and closed.

The location is the best part for me, just lovely for a Swedish holiday. We had a great hotel stay and a fantastic evening meal at the restaurant for our celebration with 14 people. Breakfast was really good too, with continental choices alongside hot bacon and scrambled eggs, plus some gluten-free options.

Getting there takes a little effort since the hotel is on an island, but the trip is worth it. Ulvösund is a protected fishing hamlet, with lovely scenery and real historical value. The place is a bit expensive, though the high standard, friendly and service-minded staff, and awesome kitchen make it worthwhile. It's my favorite place in Northern Sweden.
