My first night’s sleep was awful because the pillows were tiny, and there weren’t any extras. It was hard to reach anyone to ask for more, so I ended up buying pillows myself. There was no tea or coffee in the room, or in the vending machine.

There were some useful things in the rooms: a TV, microwave, cutlery, kettle, fridge, and air conditioning. One room also had a kitchen. But I couldn’t adjust the temperature because the air conditioning switch was missing. The room needed better cleaning, and there was no shampoo or shower gel. We booked two rooms well in advance, but they were placed on opposite sides of the corridor, farther apart than we expected. There were no “Do not disturb” signs, so we had to ask the cleaners for one. We tried reception too, but it was always closed. The reception hours said it would be open until 19:00 on weekdays, yet it was shut when I came by at 18:20. In the morning it was also closed at 9:30, despite the stated opening time of 8:30. I stayed here two years ago and it was okay, but this visit was much worse. The hotel seemed full of construction workers, I guessed, and almost every night I heard men shouting outside and in the corridor. People often smoked by the emergency exit, leaving the whole hotel smelling of smoke. Doors opening and closing at all hours also made it hard to sleep sometimes.

The room was clean, with good beds, and having a fridge, kettle, and microwave was quite handy when travelling with a baby. There were towels in the bathroom, but no shower soap. The stairs could be designed better because the steps aren’t symmetrical. The person at reception welcomed us with a big, friendly smile and was kind.

We never got a response from reception, and the bedroom wasn’t cleaned. The day after we arrived, we left a note, but still hadn’t seen a receptionist. When we got to the room, it had no hair dryer, shampoo, or clean towels. I’d phoned before my flight to say I’d be late, and they gave me a room number, but I couldn’t remember it when I arrived. Reception was closed, so we got into a room with help from the caretaker. The service was honestly disappointing. The hotel is far from the centre and only reachable by car. I wouldn’t stay here for a leisure trip, and I won’t be back.

I came back after three days to find the room still hadn’t been cleaned once, despite the daily cleaning they advertise. I also had to buy bed sheets because there were pubes from the previous guest in the bed. They’re planning room renovations, but nobody told me. Workers woke me at 7, and when I called to complain, I just got attitude and was told I shouldn’t be sleeping in. Reception is a disaster too. You have to call, then some guy turns up wearing sunglasses like he wants to hide. My kids live in Vallentuna, so I visit often and need a place to stay. This was my first and last time here. Norrort Hotel won’t be an option. Run away, this place is a disaster.
