Långsjön Stugor & Camping

There’s a lovely lake for swimming across the road, though you do have to cross a busy one to reach it. That road is the main drawback: it can be loud during the day, even if it does make getting around quick. The site also sits beside an active railway. Pitches are a good size, and the toilets and showers are modern and clean, though there are only three of each in the main building. Wifi is fast, around 350mbit/s, but only works at reception. One of the best campsites I’ve visited in Sweden 👍

The people were nice, and the surroundings are gorgeous, but I’m not sure we’d come back. The highway runs right by the site, and you have to cross it to swim. There’s also a charming little train to västervik, though it means you don’t get the peace and quiet some people want from camping. There were very few bathrooms and kitchens for the number of tents, and ours were a long way from our cabin, which made cooking dinner inconvenient. There wasn’t a playground or shared hangout area either. You have to rent everything, including the grill.

The small shop had just the essentials and some drinks, which was all we needed. Across the road from the campsite, there’s a lake for swimming or watching the sunset. We stayed overnight in a two-person stuga, and both it and the sanitary buildings were extremely clean. The whole site is very well maintained. When we asked about walking or cycling routes, they gave us several options and a map. A picturesque railway runs past the campsite. In holiday season, the train comes twice a day on weekdays and stops at the site; if I remember right, it passes four times on weekends.

The lakeside setting and the cute little train station nearby were interesting, and we had an incredible stay. The surroundings are lovely, the facilities are well looked after, and the staff are friendly. We’re already looking forward to coming back.
