Wallby Säteri

We stayed in Båtmanstugan, which turned out to be joined to Brunnstugan rather than a cottage of its own, as we'd first assumed. The nights were cold, and even with the small heater provided it stayed chilly. The setting at Wallby Säteri is beautiful and peaceful, with lovely long walks, especially for anyone travelling with a dog. We'd suggest staying at least two nights to properly enjoy the area. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, and both three-course dinners we had were very good. It was nice that a vegan option was offered, and most of it was skilfully prepared. The service was relaxed and informal, which suited the place. We definitely recommend Wallby Säteri. It wasn't good value for money for us, but not every experience has to be. We still had a lovely stay.

The grounds and buildings are rich in Swedish history, and you can tour the manor house. Our cabins were rustic and charming, clean and well appointed, with very comfortable beds. Magnus and the staff were amazing, and the stay became one of our most memorable holidays. Dinner was beautifully done, the wine pairing was high standard, and the fresh, appealing breakfast buffet had lots of choice. I joined an organised cycling trip here in early June and was really impressed by the setting. The grounds are gorgeous, with greenery and woodland all around, and there's a lake just a couple of minutes away for a swim. The staff were friendly and always helpful, and the food and drinks were delicious. Super impressed!

Rainy weather was a shame, but even then the location, friendly service, and nice rooms made for a great stay. The people there are very mindful of allergies and fussy eaters, which is perfect for families with children. A lovely place to get a taste of the beauty of Sweden's Smaland.
