Björkbackens Karaktärshotellet - Stugby

We paid 40 dollars extra for two days with access to the heated pool, but when we first went in, the water was only 20°C. At reception, they didn't seem to think this was abnormal. We had to insist before they called the technical service, and it turned out the pool heating seemed to have been accidentally switched off. I understand the technical problem, but the way they handled my first complaint felt so unwelcoming that I'm leaving this bad review.

We camped in our own tent, and there are a few things to keep in mind. Several pitches aren't level, however you look at them, and many sit between two busy main roads. It's noisy well into the night, especially from the road to Vimmerby, which never gets completely quiet. Showers and the washing machine also cost extra, which struck us as odd since we haven't paid separately for those at other campsites. It has its drawbacks.

The hotel is clean enough, and the staff are friendly, though they seem unsure and can't answer questions. Inside, it feels depressing, a bit like a cheap cruise ship. We didn't try the summer buffet for 300 kr, but it looked unappealing, and the description only mentioned pork, chicken, fish, and sides. The town center is a 20 minute walk away. For a two star hotel it's okay, but not at this price. Stay here if you have to.

The room was clean, though quite small, and I really liked the patio outside. Reception staff were very friendly. Breakfast was just okay, not what I'd expected, and the price felt a little high.
