Hotel Convent - Hotel & Resort Adria Ankaran

The setting could be nice, but the resort is badly managed and I did not feel safe there. I was one of about 300 people staying for an international convention. Outsiders attacked us, trying to scare people; some rooms were broken into, and the people inside were hit with fists and kicks. Security was completely absent during this, and management refused to give us even a partial refund. There were children in the main hotel while the attacks were happening.

The sunsets are beautiful, and the beach itself is nice, though getting into the water is rocky and there was grass in it in August. Food has enough variety that half board makes sense. I'd give the resort 3.5 stars: it has what you need, but the rooms and facilities all feel quite old and outdated.

The baby and toddler pool was empty and unusable, which was one of the main reasons we picked the place with small children. The grounds felt like a crowded budget campsite, with no peace, little greenery, and hardly anything for parents beyond the crowded restaurant. We stayed in July 2025 in two mobile homes described as “premium.” They were packed close together, with almost no outdoor space or privacy, and didn't feel comfortable or premium. The resort looks out directly onto the industrial port of Koper, where huge cargo ships pass all day. That takes away the seaside feeling the website photos suggest, and those photos crop out the port. When we raised the problems and asked for management, we were told nobody was available. After asking repeatedly, we were allowed to leave early without a penalty. The front office manager, Blaž, handled that part professionally, and we appreciated it. This wasn't the peaceful, natural, comfortable family resort we expected. If that's what you're after, look elsewhere.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. They advertise a room for a disabled person, but after taking a deposit they said no accessible accommodation was available. They kept the deposit, ignored my messages and didn't return money they had collected illegally. We travel a lot, and I've never seen such meanness. The place may be beautiful, but I don't care about that when disabled people are treated so vilely just to get their money.
