We ducked in out of the downpour and found shelter and a good meal at Gostišče Sovdat, on a covered terrace just off the main road. The Jota stew with polenta cakes was hearty and delicious, and my wife’s whole fried fresh trout was just as good. We shared Bovški Krafi for dessert, soft dough filled with dried cider pears, apples, and raisins. Everything was remarkably affordable. A great experience.

The waitress had such a kind smile and was lovely to us. After being treated rudely at another restaurant, we were so glad to end up here. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. We had a traditional Slovenian dish for dinner, which was nice, and the homemade pistachio ice cream was delicious.

Both soups, beef and vegetable, were wonderful starters. The beef steak wasn't prepared very well, but they took it off the bill without any fuss. We also ordered a classic Wiener schnitzel. Our waitress was extremely kind, and thanks to her we still had a very pleasant experience.

The service was quick and efficient. The cabbage salad was fresh, crunchy, thinly sliced, and a portion for two. The fries were OK, too. The homemade mushroom soup was rich and tasty, with real mushrooms. The juicy, crispy Viennese pork schnitzel came in a portion for two. We poured a few spoonfuls of the soup over it, which made it even juicier. The apple pie pastry was completely soggy, though the ice cream was OK.

Now that's a good burger. Book a table, because otherwise you'll need luck to get one. Can't blame them :)
