Gostilna Pri Martinu

We hadn't planned to stop for lunch, but saw the line and decided to try it. I like this kind of restaurant, where authenticity and tradition come first. The mushroom soup is a work of art, and the mixed meat portion for two was so big that the three of us couldn't finish it. The dark beer is a must. If you reserve, you get a table with a stunning view.

We only booked one night and planned to skip breakfast so we could leave early. While I was finishing paying for the room, the owner insisted I take a few croissants and a coffee. They really made us feel like family and were so welcoming. The room was cozy and comfortable, and the restaurant food was delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly and exceptional. I wish we'd planned to stay longer, and would definitely come back!

My Italian husband is a big fan of this place, and I can see why the food is so tasty. But the women working here could be much more welcoming and polite. That blunt, old-fashioned way of speaking doesn't really work anymore. I'll give it one last try.

The waiter was professional and helpful, and the portions were generous. We ordered mixed meat for two, spaghetti bolognese, and ice cream with blackberries. It’s a warm, rustic place with lots of wood, and the food was excellent. A perfect stop in Kranjska gora!
