Hotel Vandot

We were there last September for a walking holiday in the Julian Alps, and Maja and her husband have done a lovely job with the place. It's hard to believe this modern, immaculate hotel was a farmhouse with animals just 7-8 years ago. The beds and linens were good quality, and the shower had strong pressure. Breakfast was a real highlight: local yogurt from the village next to KG, local meats and cheeses, cakes, homemade seasonal jams and delicious smoothies, elderflower juice, and the usual breakfast items. The coffee was excellent too. When the machine broke, Maja got a repairman to come pronto because coffee matters so much to her guests. She and the staff encouraged us to try the local delicacies. A wonderful stay supporting a great local business.

The town was lovely, and we had a great dinner at the foot of the chair lift. At Hotel Vandit, check-in was simple with the door code. The two spaces were already taken, but parking just across the road had been arranged for us. Breakfast was lovely, with good coffee and lots of meats, cheeses, and other good food.

I was unsure about staying somewhere without air conditioning, but the floor cooling worked perfectly in 25-30 degree temperatures. Over my two nights, the room was clean, very nice, and had one of the best beds. The two women I met were always smiling and exceptionally service-minded, with excellent hiking tips for the area. I highly recommend Hotel Vandot.

The staff were so friendly and suggested places for us to go, and breakfast was great, with freshly made eggs and lots of options. The location is spot on, within walking distance of town and the ski slopes, and there's free parking nearby. Our stylish room was comfortable and clean, and the modern ski equipment room was useful. We really loved staying here and hope to come back in summer.
