Thermana Park Laško

The green setting in the heart of Slovenia is lovely, and the health facilities, spa, and thermal baths are what make this top-class hotel so popular. But it has lost some of its appeal, especially since the pandemic began. In many rooms the Wi-Fi doesn't work, and the shower hot-water temperature can be impossible to control, either because the pressure is too low or the mixer isn't working properly. With prices like these, some renovation is needed.

The pools were clean and beautiful, with pleasantly warm water, just what you'd hope for at a thermal spa. I also spent a lot of time in the Finnish and relaxation saunas, which were fantastic and very calming. My best friend and I had a lovely, relaxing weekend. The hotel was good, the service was fine, and breakfast was nice with a decent selection. I've stayed at plenty of hotels and spa resorts, so I do compare them. Everything here was perfectly fine, but the experience didn't quite make me sure I'd return. Still, it was a pleasant place for a spa weekend.

For a work trip, this was a comfortable stay and mostly what I expected. The conference rooms were bright, roomy, and comfortable, and the catering was well organized and enjoyable. Lunch was excellent and full of flavor. Breakfast tasted good and was filling, though the selection felt average, especially for fresh fruit, vegetables, and other healthy options. The rooms were clean and well kept, and the whole complex looked tidy and cared for. You can park outside for free, while the garage costs extra. The pool was the main letdown. The water was around 32 degrees, and though it was quiet during the week, the pool area felt dated and small for a hotel this size. Hotel Thermana Laško is pleasant overall, particularly for business events, but there are a few things to improve.

We came for the indoor water park, not to stay overnight. The kids kept going on the indoor slide, and there are pools for little ones as well as slightly older kids. Adults can use the saunas for an extra fee, and there's also an outdoor pool open even in cold weather. The canteen food was tasty, good quality, and affordable. After the spa, we found an exceptional Sacher cake at the hotel cafe by the exit.
