Chocolate Village By The River

The Criollo house took our breath away, especially the terrace, where the view over the peaceful natural surroundings felt magical and completely private. Everything was spotless and tidy. We were given such a thoughtful welcome, and Mrs. Aleksandra deserves special thanks for handling every part of our reservation flawlessly. We’ll definitely come back.

Breakfast was delicious, with really good quality, and having it on the balcony was a highlight. We visited in summer, so the little pool was a big plus, though our room got a bit hot. The place was beautiful and had everything we wanted for a quiet, safe getaway with my partner: greenery all around, cleanliness, and excellent service and attention. There’s a good restaurant very close by. We’ll be back, hopefully next time in autumn.

This was a two-night work trip to Maribor, and the stay made it a lot more fun. The location right on the banks of the Drava is fantastic, and I’d ask for one of the first-row houses for the view. I wouldn’t call it luxury, despite how they describe it. It feels unique and extraordinary, but not luxurious. The chocolate theme didn’t add much for me either, since the location and houses are already fantastic on their own. Thanks for a great stay. If I’m in the city again, I’ll come back.

The breakfast choices didn’t appeal to me much. There are four types, but the ingredients seemed odd and there wasn’t much to choose from. On our last day the bread was stale and very chewy, so I think they could improve breakfast with more familiar options. We had an amazing three-night stay at this small glamping place, which has 10 houses for 2-4 people. It’s beside a river with an amazing view from the houses, and there are nice restaurants and places to get a drink nearby. In the area, there’s Bikepark Maribor, an abandoned aircraft, and a shopping center. We had a chocolate massage followed by a three-hour spa session. The spa has a hottub, sauna, rest area, snacks, and drinks. Everyone staying at the glamping can use the amazing swimming pool, and there’s a nice fireplace ready to use every night, with marshmallows for a pleasant evening. There were a lot of families with small children for such a small place, which meant a lot of noise. Given the way the place looks, I don’t think it’s suited to kids.
