Pension Jelen 1887

For our first visit to Slovenia, we stayed at Jelen's with a group of five and would recommend it to others. The pension has a charming style and decor that we really liked, and the rooms were clean and spacious enough. Breakfast was simple but offered enough choice for different tastes. The hardworking women on staff were helpful and got us checked in earlier than planned. The only small problem was that the wifi/internet wasn’t working. Thanks for the warm welcome to Slovenia!

The main street noise was horrible, so after just one night of our planned four, we left the pension and found somewhere else in the morning. The bed wasn’t very comfortable, and the carpet and doors were very old. There was also a smell in the bed and the room corridor. I wouldn’t stay here again. I think the pension needs renovating as soon as possible.

We came back for a second visit and had dinner there. The food was quite good, and the prices were reasonable, not too expensive. Even though it was late in the evening, they were happy to serve us. The service staff were quite friendly.

The linen was very worn, and our room faced a noisy main road. The worst part came later: at 3 a.m., my wife woke up with intense itching all over. When we turned on the light, we saw lots of bugs crawling over the beds and linen. There was no 24-hour reception, everything was locked, and we spent the night in the car.
