4Flats

The people running 4 Flats are a big part of why I keep coming back. Greg handles the business side and is quick to sort out anything that needs attention, while his parents look after housekeeping and upkeep. I’ve met all three several times, and they’re friendly and appreciative. There’s plenty close by: the town square is just down the street, with Good Morning Vietnam nearby for Southeast Asian food. Rooster is a short walk away for homemade pastries and filter coffee, which can be hard to find in Maribor. Across the small park outside my window sits the Slovenian National Theater, with affordable opera, dance, plays and other cultural events in a beautiful hall. Its elegant café is independently run and open six days a week. The rooms are modern, spotless, quiet and well maintained, with soft towels and plush pillows. I’ve stayed for quite a few nights and always enjoy it. Between the comfortable rooms and all that’s nearby, 4 Flats works really well for me.

A kettle, two cups, tea and a small fridge were handy, and the room had air conditioning. It’s small, but there’s enough space for two to sleep, and the center is close. The downside was being right by the rather loud entrance door. We heard it open and shut from early morning :/

The owner was very helpful and friendly, and I loved having an electric kettle for evening tea. Everything looked new and clean. The room was a little chilly, though that may come with the high ceilings in this historic building. Breakfast is available from 8 at the nearby café, but I didn’t try it.

This is apartments rather than a hotel. The bed linen was dirty, and checking in was difficult.
