I spent four months at the residence as an Erasmus student, and although the reviews about small rooms and a dirty kitchen aren't wrong, my own stay was really positive. My room was spacious, clean and warm. Nastja was great to communicate with and always helped sort out room issues. The kitchen did get dirty because people didn't respect the shared space, even though the cleaner came every other day. I was unsure about sharing a kitchen at first, but I ended up both loving and hating it. The mess could make me mad, yet it was also where I made friends and built lovely memories. The residence is near the center, even closer to the faculty of economics and business, with a Lidl and a bus stop nearby. If you're on a budget like I was, I'd say give it a try. Just don't expect a four-star hotel for €250 a month.

For €61.50, I was really unhappy with the place. The room was messy and old, the toilet and shower even older, and the towels were as thin as toilet paper. I found hair in the blanket, two spiders on the walls, and a badly stained curtain. I won't come back, and wouldn't recommend it to anyone who's particular about cleanliness.

The shared kitchen is spacious and makes a good place to spend time with other residents, which I haven’t found in many places. The residence is also handy for getting around, with the bus and train stations and two large supermarkets nearby. I stayed for four months and loved it. The owners were warm and welcoming, and always quick to help whenever something came up. I’d happily recommend it to anyone looking for a great stay in Maribor.

I’m replying to the owner because their response leaves out important details and doesn’t match what I experienced. I paid €30 for cleaning, but the room was very dirty when I arrived. The sheets smelled as though someone had slept in them the night before, and the pillow was in such bad shape that replacing it was basic, not some special favor or a response to me being “too sensitive.” I cleaned the room myself. Before doing so, I asked the owner if I could get the €30 back if I cleaned it and left it clean, and was told, “Yes, of course.” I never got that money back, or my €300 deposit. For two weeks, I shared a room with someone I didn’t know and had to use a bathroom with a broken door. That’s not an acceptable situation for a student, and it took far too long to fix. The roller blind never closed properly either. I care about privacy, and don’t think it’s fair to portray that as an unreasonable demand. When scabies appeared in the dorm, people were panicking. Staff responded rudely and aggressively instead of giving guidance. When we asked what would be done, they were dismissive and unprofessional. There had been bedbugs the year before, too. I also felt the owners spoke to us by issuing orders and insulting us, and I found their treatment racist. When I had a problem, I didn’t feel they would help. The contract says leaving early means paying 60%, which seems absurd to me. Why should students pay for time they didn’t stay? I haven’t seen this clause in other dorms. They knew how much the money mattered to us, yet left us in a very difficult position. I followed the rules, but still haven’t received my deposit. If I’d broken the contract, I’m sure they’d have reminded me of their rights. Contracts and legal obligations should work both ways. My review is a first-hand account, not hate speech. Instead of threatening people or denying their experiences, the owners should consider why students leave early. If you’re thinking about registering here for Erasmus, I definitely don’t recommend it.

We wanted to leave after scabies appeared in the dorm. The contract said we could get our €300 deposit back in that situation, but we still haven’t received it. My Erasmus stay was in the spring term, and I’d wake up shaking from the cold because the rooms were freezing. Whenever I brought this or another problem up, nobody was helpful. They treated us badly, as though we weren’t paying and they were doing us a favor. Don’t spoil your Erasmus experience by signing up here.
