Wellness Hotel Montis

Room 210 had a beautiful sunrise view across the valley, mountains, forest and ski slopes. Hotel Montis was excellent value for money, and reception were kind and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast and dinner options in the restaurant, where service was quick and friendly. The wellness area was very relaxing, with comfortable beds and refreshing tea and lemon water. The slopes suited experienced skiers especially well, and sunny red Route 8 was a highlight. A great stay, and we can't wait to come back. :)

The hikes were the one part of our birthday weekend on Golte that worked out well. We’d planned on a nice dinner, wellness and breakfast too, but the service left us with none of that. Two days before we arrived, an email said the restaurant was unavailable because of an event, so we had to drive down a dark, steep, winding mountain road to find somewhere that still had room on a Saturday night. We got in around seven and had to make our way to the apartment over dark, unlit stairs. For 125 euros, we got only the apartment. It was clean and nicely decorated, but had several problems: wardrobe doors that open on their own, an electric cable running across the middle of the corridor and an unsuitable shower head. At that price for one night, I’d expect a decent breakfast or at least a few hours of wellness, as is common at similar accommodation abroad. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

Nina, the trainee receptionist, was very helpful and made us feel more at ease. Kudos to her. The hotel management’s advertising, though, was misleading and didn’t help. When booking, a good portion of the amenities listed on Booking weren’t included in the price, at least at the time we booked. The pool shown in the photos is no longer offered, and the wellness area is restricted to guests aged 16 and up. Also, half board doesn’t cover drinks at dinner. I’d expected juice to be included with a paid meal, as it is at breakfast.

We had a lovely two-night stay at hotel Montis with our family of four and our dog. The peaceful atmosphere, gorgeous views and beautiful nature made it a relaxing trip, and we felt it was good value. We’d happily stay again, hopefully we will :). I was a little nervous before arriving because of some unflattering reviews about the location, food and staff, but there was no need to worry. The hotel sits among the trees at the top of the mountain. We drove instead of taking the cable car. The road has plenty of bends and is narrow, but it’s paved and well maintained the whole way. We found it easier to follow directions to restaurant Vid, then take the road on the right, rather than enter the hotel address into the GPS. Everyone working there was kind and helpful. It did sometimes seem a bit understaffed, especially at dinner, but it wasn’t a major problem. We waited no more than a few minutes for plates to be cleared or drinks to arrive. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with a large bathroom and balcony, and had everything we needed. A mini fridge would’ve been useful, though we understand why there wasn’t one at a ski resort. Both the buffet breakfast and dinner were more than satisfactory. Breakfast had plenty of sweet and savoury choices, including eggs prepared in different ways, sausages, cold cuts, cereal, spreads, fruit, juice and quite tasty coffee. At dinner there were two soups, meat, vegetables, cold cuts, dessert and fruit. Everything tasted good and was well seasoned.
