DAM boutique hotel & restaurant

The food alone made our two days in Slovenia memorable. Chef Uroš Fakuč has kept a Michelin star for five years, and it’s easy to see why. His restaurant had been running for about 15 years before he opened the boutique hotel beside it five years ago. That personal touch and attention to detail show in every corner, and he and his team made us feel looked after. I appreciate the consistent luxury at big chains too. The month before, I’d spent 10 days between the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo and Kyoto, but the care at DAM stood out. We’d done very little planning for our wine region visit, yet DAM became the highlight of the whole vacation.

Dinner with all five of us was a great experience. The chef accommodated everyone’s special requests, and both the service and food were great. The shrimp even came with some fancy smoke.

I slept like a baby, which is unusual for me in a hotel. The rooms are lovely, the bathroom was clean, and the beds were comfortable. There’s also a large, secure parking area, which is hard to find in this part of the area. We went to DAM boutique hotel & restaurant because my husband surprised me with a trip, and I’d been hoping for a great seafood meal. The dinner downstairs was unforgettable, with delicious courses from start to finish. I even liked the courses that were a bit strong on the seafood. The chef explained they’re trying to push the limits, and I enjoyed every second. Breakfast is worth having too if you stay here. It’s nicely prepared and served in a well-decorated bar.

The owner was so kind and helpful with ideas for the next stops on our Slovenia trip. The hotel is tastefully decorated, and the facilities are excellent. Local seafood and wines feature at the restaurant, which deserves its Michelin star. Breakfast was nice too. Great experience all around, and worth a visit when you’re in Slovenia.
