Cosy Little Love Nest in Piran

The hotel is in a central spot in the old town, by the sea, and the rooms are clean. Choose the right room type and you can get good harbor views. Breakfast was decent with a good variety, and the restaurant waiters were polite and friendly. For a supposed 4-star hotel, though, the price-to-quality ratio is poor, and I wouldn’t rate it as four stars. There’s no luggage room, so guests have to leave their belongings by reception, which seems odd for a hotel at this level. There’s no kettle, tea or coffee in the room either. Some of the women at reception need proper training. I understand familiarity is widespread in the Balkans, but from what I saw, the hotel mostly accommodates foreign tourists. I’d look for another 4- or 5-star place while staying in central Piran.

Breakfast on the terrace was a lovely way to start the day, and the staff were welcoming and helpful throughout. My room was clean and comfortable, with a nice coastal feel. The location is hard to beat, right on the seafront with amazing sunset views. Hotel Piran was a highlight of my trip, and I’d love to return.

The rooms are clean, the staff are friendly and the location is good. But the room was uncomfortably hot. The AC had been running on high for five hours and it was still hot on the first floor. I overheard another guest saying his friends’ rooms on the fourth floor were very warm too. I looked up reviews and found repeated complaints about inadequate AC going back to 2014. That was eleven years ago, and rooms are still too hot. I can’t tell whether it’s an HVAC problem that hasn’t been addressed or whether the hotel sets the temperature higher to save money. There are signs around encouraging people to take the stairs, framed as saving electricity and helping the planet and your health. Paying over 200 euros a night in August without effective AC just isn’t right. It wasn’t even an extreme heat wave here, just 90 degrees, cooler than Ljubljana and Bled Lake, where both hotels I stayed in had comfortable AC.

Our room was just right, check-in was quick and informative, and the prompt, easy shuttle from their recommended carpark made arrival simple. The staff were attentive and top rate. Absolutely fantastic!
