Grand Hotel Bernardin

The location is amazing, though the hotel feels a bit dated. During summer, the room can get quite uncomfortable because the A/C can't be set below 23 degrees.

The breakfast was delicious, with lots of choices, and I had a really good massage. The room was clean and cozy, the bed was big and comfortable, and the view was amazing. The bathroom wasn't my favourite, though, since the bathtub and shower combination wasn't very practical. The pool water felt quite cold, and I got a rash after swimming. Sauna access at the spa costs extra, and visiting during the week is cheaper than on weekends. E-car charging is also available for an additional fee. We stayed two nights at the Bernardin Hotel. It seems more suited to seniors.

The pools were a letdown. The indoor seawater pools didn't seem well cleaned or maintained, and the tiles were slippery with algae. In our room, the air conditioning wasn't working and the temperature climbed to 29°C. Even after the front desk confirmed the AC had failed, they didn't move us to another room. Breakfast was mediocre, and the building, rooms, and amenities all felt dated. The location and view are excellent, but that's the only good thing this hotel has to offer. It definitely doesn't feel like a five-star property. I chose it for the location and its supposed five-star rating, but the location was the only thing it delivered. A very disappointing experience.

What stood out most was how the hotel management dealt with a minor problem we had involving one of their junior staff. It takes more than collecting five stars when everything goes smoothly, and they handled the issue well. The hotel is very nice, right by the beach and close to Piran. We highly recommend it.
