B&B Šilak

The B&B is right in the center, so everything we needed was a short walk away, and there is private parking. We had a lovely view of the Drava River from our well-maintained room in the beautiful building. The owner was extremely kind and went out of her way to make us feel welcome.

Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and breakfast was great. It was on the top floor, so keep in mind there is no elevator. The building is 500 years old, but the renovations were so good that we barely noticed its age. The owner welcomed us after we first parked at the door and showed us the proper parking spot behind the building. Finding the accommodation was easy. Arriving in Ptuj was magnificent, with a beautiful view across the river to the whole old town from the highway. Even some three-star hotels don't meet these standards. We'll definitely return to B&B Silak in Ptuj. Thank you for the accommodation.

The house is a little gem near the river, on the edge of Ptuj's old town. Lydia was sweet and attentive, taking plenty of time to point out hidden gems in the beautiful 2000-year-old town. The building is about 800 years old and was rebuilt in 1690 after a fire in the late 1600s. It was originally part of a local tannery. Lydia and her husband lovingly restored it after it was returned to the family following the dissolution of the Yugoslavian government. You can see their care in the details, and they built the business from scratch. Breakfast, served in a beautiful old cellar, was healthy, with fresh fruit, yoghurt, meats, and cheeses. I thoroughly recommend staying here for a few nights. Our two days certainly weren't enough.

From this B&B by the river, most of Ptuj’s sights are an easy 15-20 minute walk away, which works well in such a small town. The owners were welcoming and gave us useful tips on places to visit and eat, and our room was spotless. Breakfast covered the basics, though I’d have liked more choice. A very good option for visiting Slovenia’s oldest city.
