Hotel Krek

We slept badly because the air conditioning didn’t cool the room effectively, and we couldn’t leave the windows open because the hotel is by the motorway and the noise was too much. I raised the AC issue three times. First they said nothing could be done, then they told me it was “fixed.” At checkout, they said it was blowing at 15C, though proper cooling needs a much lower temperature. They blamed European regulations, but if that’s right, everywhere we’d stayed in the previous two months must have been illegal. They also said the AC switches off when the outside temperature drops below 20C. It would have been useful to know that, but nobody told us. I discussed it with the manager, and the dismissal of my concerns left me assuming nothing would be done. There was no fridge, the shower was small, and its curtain stuck to you and let water spill everywhere. We also found several eyelashes and hairs when we pulled back the covers on arrival. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The restaurant stood out for its cozy feel and the quality of the food. The whole hotel had a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere, and the location was both peaceful and easy to reach. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The staff were extremely friendly and professional, always ready to help with guests’ needs. I had an excellent stay at Hotel & Restaurant Krek and highly recommend it for comfortable accommodation and great service.

For a weekend lunch, Restaurant Krek is a great choice. The food was fresh, flavorful, and well seasoned. Weekday meals were less impressive: the veal roast in horseradish sauce was tender and the meat seemed good quality, but it lacked flavor and seasoning. Prices are very reasonable for the portions, and the relaxed atmosphere and friendly, accommodating staff made for a positive visit. It’s especially convenient for people passing through, right by the highway and close to shops and a gas station. I’d recommend it, with some reservations about weekday meals.

We booked at the last moment, around 11:30 pm. The hotel is a minute from the highway and a short drive from Bled. The rooms were clean and breakfast was fine. The beds were okay, but the pillows were trash.
