Hotel Kristal

The staff were kind, and the rooms were clean and cosy. Most of all, the food was delicious. We tried quite a few dishes, from beetroot and gnocchi to duck and deer, and each one was more heavenly than the last. An experience I won't forget. Thank you!

The hotel was functional, and the staff made it feel really friendly and welcoming. The restaurant's traditional Slovenian menu was next level, the best meal I've ever had. Lake Bohinj is an easy short walk away, and there's even a waffle maker at breakfast.

The facility was clean, and the staff were polite. The sauna was great, and booking it privately for 30€ for 2 hours felt like good value.

The location, breakfast, and price were positives, but I don't understand the very favorable ratings. For a hotel rated 4*, I was surprised there was no sound insulation. I could hear people talking, laughing, and moving around in every adjoining room, and it made it hard to fall asleep. Their noise also seemed to determine when I woke up. It was still very loud at 00:08 while I was writing this. The bathroom wasn't clean: there was hair on the toilet seat and water marks on the faucets. The odd wooden paneling in there also looked and felt unhygienic. There's no lock on the common area toilet door. Since that toilet is also used by the restaurant, it's uncomfortable to go in and be unable to lock the door.
