Grand Donat

It was peaceful around the hotel, with parks and children's playgrounds nearby, and free parking within the grounds. The staff were excellent, and both the breakfast and the dinner options were very good. Our room was clean and the hotel was in solid condition. The pool and saunas were excellent too. The building connects directly to the medical center, the mineral-rich water hall, shops, and the spa. Very good value for money.

The hotel felt a little dated, but was nice overall. Breakfast and dinner were good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We appreciated having free parking in the enclosed lot. The saunas only opened from 4 to 7 pm, though, and the room air conditioning didn't work, so it got quite hot. I can't really imagine staying there in summer.

The setting is lovely, with hiking trails nearby, old buildings around the square in front, and a nice coffee place across the way. It's peaceful and relaxing there. Still, I'll return to Rogaška Slatina, but not to this hotel. We booked because the hotel had several different saunas, then found that they only opened at 4 pm and two weren't working. In the room, the two beds we'd requested were pushed together with a gap between them. The mattresses were rock hard, the frames creaked, and I didn't sleep at all. Light came through all night because the hallway doors didn't fit their frames, and every sound from the hall carried into the room. I've never had that happen at another hotel.

The surroundings are lovely and clean, with nice nature, and there's free parking outside the hotel. There are plenty of places to walk and hike, though sadly there was no snow. The staff were kind. The room was very clean but simply equipped, with no iron or kettle. For a couple, it had two separate beds instead of one, and the mattresses and pillows weren't very comfortable. The pool was clean and the water warm, 29 degrees, with the jacuzzi at 34 degrees. It did feel small for such a large hotel. Breakfast was great, and so were the cakes. There was a good range of food at the New Year's dinner, but it was poorly prepared, especially the meat, which all tasted similarly unpleasant and was hard to identify. The dinner cost 80 euros per person and didn't include any drinks, not even water. The band played badly for 15 minutes at a time, then took 10-minute breaks all night. There were no games or lottery, and they even missed the New Year countdown. Our stay was fine, but I wouldn't recommend the hotel for a New Year's celebration.
