Vila Koman

We were a family of four and spent three nights at Villa Koman. It’s a quiet place where you can properly relax, with hiking trails right at hand and very friendly hosts. We especially liked the laid-back bar, with good snacks, including ice cream, and drinks.

The location is incredible, and the view from my room was unreal. Getting there was easy: the bus from Kranj stops at Jezersko Kazina, then it’s just a two-minute walk along a paved sidewalk, so rolling luggage is no problem. Alen made check-in simple and welcomed me with tips for the area. Downstairs there’s a lounge and dining space, both used for breakfast. My spacious double room on the first floor, the second floor for Americans, had lots of character thanks to the wood floors and furniture. It felt cozy on a rainy day, and I imagine it’s especially snug in winter. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and having a sink and mirror in the bedroom was handy for brushing my teeth without using the shared bathroom. The balcony and its view were amazing. The shared floor had two toilets and two showers for the few rooms, plus another toilet downstairs. They were always clean and sufficient, with no wait for me, and the shower pressure was great. Breakfast was good. Vegetarian choices included fresh bananas, apples, and nectarines; coffee cake or croissants; toast with jam and honey; two granolas and two cereals with yogurt; and vegetables. Juice, instant coffee, and tea were included too. The tourist information office is right next door, with a grocery store behind it. There’s plenty to see and hiking in town behind you and across the street. A pretty trail takes about 20-25 minutes to reach the lake, with more trails and sights there. Just remember to eat dinner early, since restaurant kitchens in the area close at 8pm every day.

After a good day hiking, we had a great stay in this beautiful building. The rooms were nice and clean, and breakfast was varied and really tasty. We’re grateful that the proprietor helped sort out some problems we had. I’d come back to the area just to stay here again.

The owner made everyone feel at home, and breakfast was plentiful and a fantastic value. We had a wonderful stay, with stunning views. I’d highly recommend this place for a relaxing getaway.
