The place itself is clean and new, but there were plenty of problems during our stay. There’s very little to see nearby apart from Bojnice Castle, and the pension has no kitchen, despite management replies suggesting you can eat at a nearby restaurant. You could stay there too, so keep that in mind. Food options here are limited, and there’s not much to do on site. By 8 pm the cafe closes, leaving you with the TV in your room. There are cameras everywhere, which I understand, but it made the place feel like a reality show and was uncomfortable. The pool access also wasn’t unlimited, despite our assumption. The voucher said in small print it was only from 4 to 8 pm, a time when you may be out. The pension can hardly be called a wellness center: there’s one pool, a jacuzzi and a sauna. The jacuzzi water smelled really disgusting, and we were almost alone. Getting the sauna turned on meant asking the unpleasant staff, which isn’t something I want to have to do on vacation. The worst issue was the service hours and staff availability. The lady at the counter seemed to hate being there, treated every request as a problem, and was annoying and unpleasant. I don’t think she said “good day” once in three days. When we sat down in the cafe for coffee, we waited half an hour for her to come serve us. A few minutes later she threw us out because she was going home and “won’t be here for us until midnight.” In contrast, the two ladies working breakfast were pleasant and offered everything they could. Our room was really cold, so we asked reception if they could turn on the heating. The reply was curt but affirmative. We waited, but the heating stayed completely cold. When I asked again, the lady said irritably that she was already dealing with it. After about four hours with no change, I tried to raise it again, but there was no staff at the pension, so we put on pants and sweatshirts and went to bed.
