The spa downstairs was very clean and quiet, and the halls and shared spaces were well maintained. The hotel is easy to reach by wheelchair, with ramps available, and you can walk to both city centers.

The rooms were really stuffy without air conditioning. Breakfast was quite basic for a hotel that calls itself four star.

The spa and restaurant were good, and the bowling bar was a nice bonus. The room was small and sparse but fine. This place has its hits and misses, though. You can hear a lot from the hallway and through the thin walls, so it’s noisy. Housekeeping was patchy: they made the bed and emptied the rubbish, but that was about it. The gym is inadequate, the treadmill lurches, and it’s only open during spa hours in the afternoon and evening, so there’s no morning workout. The TV claims to have five English language channels, but several don’t work or aren’t what’s advertised. Odd hotel. Apparently it’s the best hotel close to Orava Castle, but things just aren’t as they should be.
