Hotel Alibaba Kongres Hotel & Spa

I’ve never posted a bad review before, but this is my first. The friendly staff spoke English, and breakfast was nice and reasonably priced. The bacon and klobasa ran out, though, and stayed empty for a while. The room was extremely hot when we arrived. Even with the air conditioning running at full power all night, it never cooled down, and we couldn’t sleep. Some expensive chocolates we had melted by morning, so we had to throw them away. Opening the window brought bugs inside. The room also looked neglected, with cracks and stains on the walls and untidy bathroom lights and fixtures. We probably won’t return. The hotel looks modern and trendy, but I didn’t feel it was worth what we paid. They should focus more on improving the rooms and less on looking cool.

The lounge bar downstairs had a lovely atmosphere. Staff were friendly from the warm welcome through the whole stay. Breakfast was pretty standard, with a small selection of cold cuts, cheese, scrambled eggs, and the usual things.

We were disappointed by the spa: it has only 12 sunbeds, so just 12 people can use it at once. For a six-floor hotel, it seems rather small. The rest was much better, with spacious, fairly clean rooms and very comfortable beds. The restaurant food was excellent and tasty, and the breakfast and lunch buffets were both good and inexpensive. Restaurant staff were kind and helpful.

The Lounge Bar is amazing, easily on par with places in Vienna and Zurich. I’d recommend the Shisha, surely the best in eastern Slovakia!
