We came in for Sunday lunch, and the pork with red cabbage was especially delicious. The food was excellent, and our waiter was friendly and professional, speaking very good English. The service was top-notch. A pianist played lovely old songs, which made the meal even better. We loved it.

On 4 July 2019, two young Hungarian gentlemen served us at lunch with a remarkably warm welcome and efficient, friendly service. The food was excellent and very affordable: for under 15 euros, I had three courses, a soft drink, mineral water, and a lovely coffee. I’d be happy to recommend the restaurant to anyone visiting Komárom.

I’ve been coming back regularly for a while, so this review is overdue. What finally prompted me to write was the picture creation I just ate: goose liver on pear with batata chips. It was perfectly cooked, chips included, and felt both local and original. This little gem has been around for some time. Prices are above the local level, but they fit the dishes on offer. If you’re in town, it’s a place to eat.

We ended up moving our original booking, and luckily Bella had a room available for the night. After a day in the summer sun, the spacious room and air conditioning were a real relief. We also ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. The 200g steak was cooked beautifully pink; the 200g of frog legs was good too, although I wasn’t sure about the huge salad underneath it. For breakfast, I chose the “sweet plate” from the menu, with muesli, yoghurt, jam, and delicious brioche. Service was efficient. I couldn’t quite tell whether the waiter was very nice or a little patronising, but either way, we enjoyed his service.
