The only real advantage for me was the location, just steps from Levoča's historic center. The medieval building has been turned into a clean, well-kept hotel, but it isn't very convenient to stay in. There's no elevator, so getting luggage up to the third floor is quite a workout. The internet didn't work, the toilet wouldn't flush, and the attic room was too hot to sleep in without AC. The electric fan wasn't enough, and a few other quirks will test your patience. I wouldn't recommend it for groups or older people.

I've stayed at Barbakan twice and found it comfortable, with clean rooms and good service. I don't know who's posting the toxic negative reviews. I suspect they may be people working for other hotels. I always recommend Barbakan to friends.
