The apartment was dirty, the internet was poor, and the owner was unfriendly and dishonest.

Great.

The owner made the first half hour so upsetting I felt like crying, and I really can't recommend him. He accused our children of likely causing a lot of damage by playing with the toy cars they'd brought and made on the room floor, then insulted both my husband and me. We'd paid him immediately, so unfortunately there was no way to get our money back.

We booked through Booking.com, but Vladimir asked us to cancel because it would be cheaper. The place has paper-thin walls, and this whole stay ruined what had been a perfect experience. On the day we left, a bottle of alcohol turned up at our door with a note from Vladimir saying, "I apologize for the inconvenience." He'd welcomed us warmly and said he'd tidy up, which I had no problem with. But over the week he complained that I walked too loudly and that my car was parked unevenly on the empty sidewalk. Five days in, Vladimir pointed out dripping water by the sink and our unmade beds. That's when we realized he'd entered the apartment without telling us. The TV remotes were missing from under the television, and so was the plastic cover for the blind. My wife hung a damp towel on the cupboard door because there was no hairdryer. He yelled that we were "not clean in the head." I argued that he shouldn't enter our apartment when we weren't there, and he said he could throw us out if we didn't like something. That was Friday. By Sunday morning we'd decided to end the vacation early and go home. I'd never had anything like this happen before. Cleanliness, which should have been the biggest plus, turned out to be the biggest minus. Never again.
