The terrace was a lovely spot for coffee or breakfast, with a stream glinting nearby, and the shared kitchen is spacious. The location works well too, close to trailheads and the elektricka stop for strbske pleso, and the nightly price was OK. Still, the place feels old and overdue for an update, though it has some charm. The bathroom had mold, and the room was only sort of clean, so bring your own towel or pillowcase if that level of mountain-house cleanliness isn't for you. The owner seemed a bit dismissive, and we had to work everything out ourselves without any guidance.

We found a good-value place with friendly staff and lovely rooms. Shops, restaurants, the ski resort, and the tram to the Hrebienok are all conveniently close, with plenty of hiking routes around. We'd come back in summer.

Never again. Our room was dirty and full of insects, there was no soap or shampoo, and the towels smelled awful.

The accommodation was pretty good. Prices are high here, like everywhere in the Tatras, but otherwise it was OK.
