For a 3-star hotel, Hotel Torysa really delivers at a 4-star level. The staff, food, facilities and location all impressed me, and I enjoyed it more than other 4-star hotels I’ve stayed at in Slovakia. Just be aware that rooms facing the main road get more traffic noise. I’d pick one overlooking the courtyard.

The food and service are generally good, though some staff can seem rude or dismissive, which I feel is treated as socially acceptable these days. One time, the waitress shrugged off my concern and nothing was done. Beer was another issue: when the terrace is closed, they bring it in from outside in a jug, and by the time it reaches your pint glass, it’s flat. The pizza was dry but oily, with half the cheese hanging off. Maybe the cook had been drinking, or perhaps there was a change of chef. I really don’t know how they managed that.

A hearty breakfast and a very good restaurant, plus a quiet room and a comfortable bed. Hotel Torysa works well for business trips, and for tourists hoping to see the many sights in Eastern Slovakia. I highly recommend it.
